Why should you be training during the season?
The biggest & most common mistake that athletes make which leads to setbacks in development is stopping their training once the season begins. Here are the top three reasons why you should still be training in-season.
Planning for the future. Whether your goal is to play in college, or simply get more minutes/ score more points, build more confidence, etc. building your individual skills/ improving upon weaknesses even 3-4 hours in the month gives you a huge leg up on players that may go from November-April without doing any skill enhancement.
Be your best down the stretch. As the high school season goes on, hours are put into plays, defenses, and cohesion with the hopes to be playing your best team basketball come March. Skills training can help do the same on the individual side. Continuing to focus on individual skills, timing, making reads, etc. can help the individual player to perform their best down the stretch.
Mid season adjustments. Everyone has been through a slump where their shot won’t seem to fall or they can’t quite seem to make the right play. Addressing those things in skills training can help shorten those slumps to get you back on track.
